A Little Thing I Realized Today

Slightly depressing. Very morbid. Don’t let your kids read.

I realized something today.
I realized I’m going to be seeing a lot of something.
Of someone
Death.

In my lifetime,
A lot of my family and friends are going to die.
Think me mad, you may
Talking about Death in this way.

But think about it.
I’ve got a lot of family and friends that are much older than me.
They’re gonna die before me.
All thanks to that one someone

Death is a cruel being.
And again you may be thinking,
Is this boy insane?
Oh but trust me, I am not.
Just a deep thinker, is all.

My parents
My grandparents
My aunts and uncles
My second-cousin-twice-removed
They’re all probably gonna die before me.

Now I can see why people are so depressed as they get older
They’re exposed to more of Death.
Of him
Now I’m going to go out on a whim,
Again, you’re thinking I’m crazed.
No, no.
Just a bit… Odd.
Yes, yes, I admit it.
I am odd.
That’s pretty odd,
Don’t you think?
I’m admitting I am what an insult is, normally

I realized something today,
While writing this very poem,
Its that I am going to witness some strange things
But I will not let any of them control me.
Not even Death.
Who all have thought unconquerable.

Death.
